SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -
As easy target wasn't so easy when a guard came out with a gun bigger than the bad guys. Now the private security officer that stopped the robbery is speaking out and offering a hefty reward.
"It takes seconds for somebody to come into your homes, come into your businesses with guns. You can't prepare for it," he said.
What the private security officer experienced Thursday afternoon proves that. The whole thing was caught on camera. It happened at an Inkster tax preparation business. A man and woman believed to be in their late twenties or early thirties opened the door. The security officer, who asked us not to use his name, says the doors are normally locked.
"One of the employees there unlocked the doors without my permission," he said.
That's when Bonnie and Clyde pointed their guns and took their shot.
"What was going through my mind [was] the citizens that were actually inside the office and their safety," the guard said.
He fire two shots and the couple took off empty handed. The security officer was grazed by a bullet but essentially uninjured.
"I am grateful that everybody was able to walk away and wiggle their toes and their fingers and still breathe. I'm happy to be here," he said. "I'm not happy we're still looking for the individuals."
That's why he's putting up his own reward -- $1,000 to anyone who helps track down these thugs because, bottom line, no one deserves to live in fear.
"We have to make a stand against violence and these types of activities, so I'm very adamant about bring these people to justice," he said.
Police are still waiting on tips and don't believe the suspects are from Inkster. Hopefully this reward will get people talking. If you have any information call Inkster police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
