A Chicago Police officer fired a shot at an armed robber early Thursday on the South Side, police said.
Police responded to a call of a person shot about 3:10 a.m. in the 6800 block of South Peoria Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
When police arrived at the scene, the person had not been shot but was the victim of an armed robbery, Gaines said. Officers found the robber and chased him on foot, police said.
The robber showed his weapon to the officers and an officer fired one shot at him and missed, Gaines said. The robber was arrested and a weapon was recovered.
Charges are pending early Thursday, police said.
CTA #67 buses are temporarily rerouted in both directions near 69th, Morgan and Halsted streets, according to a CTA alert.
