Young man attacks officers at Cook Co. probation office

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
Commotion erupted at the Cook County Courthouse on Wednesday when a young man reporting to the probation office allegedly got into a struggle with an officer.
The man had no weapon, Cook County Sheriff's spokesman Frank Bilecki said of initial reports that the suspect had a gun.
Court personnel, including a judge, had told the Chicago Sun-Times that they were told someone brought a gun to the courthouse at 26th and California.
But Bilecki said the man, who caused a chaotic scene, came to the courthouse with his parents and started "acting out" and "acting crazy" in the lower level probation office.
When an officer came by to diffuse the situation, the man attacked the officer so more officers were called as backup, Bilecki said.
There were no injuries, but an older officer who was "shaken up" was taken by a wheelchair to an ambulance for observation, Bilecki said.
