A 1-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after she was pulled from a San Tan Valley pool.
It happened about 1 p.m. at a home near Skyline and Barzona Trail. The child was found in a backyard pool, and CPR was performed.
The girl's grandmother was watching her at the time, but the girl left the home through a back door that was left open.
She was transported by air to Ironwood Banner Medical Center in Mesa. She had a pulse, and her pupils were responding, when she was taken. However, the 1-year-old later died at the hospital.
"This is a tragedy and we don't want this to happen again," says Colin Williams of Rural Metro Fire Department.
FOX 10's Dan Spindle reports.
