The building on the Villanova campus where a science experiment prompted a hazmat situation is expected to reopen, university officials announced.
Eight students and a faculty member were taken to the hospital Tuesday after the science experiment triggered the hazardous materials situation inside Mendel Hall on Villanova's campus.
FOX 29's Dave Kinchen reports the students and faculty member reported asthma-like symptoms, and one person even reported a bloody nose.
Emergency crews stood outside of the building minutes after the incident, ready for any possible patients while dozens of students waited outside.
The science experiment was being conducted as part of a freshman science class, emergency responders said.
In an alert issued Tuesday evening, the university said that emergency responders determined the situation at Mendel Hall was resolved and that classes and activities would resume Wednesday morning.
Officers were made available to students who needed to retrieve any belongings left inside at the time of the incident.
The school says local emergency responders are investigating the cause of the incident.
