Grant Gallicho, associate editor of Commonweal journal; and Father Robert Keighron, co-host of The Catholic Guy show, weigh in on the likely successors of Pope Benedict XVI.

"It's not likely. The guys in the room don't like to give more power to the greatest power in the world," said Gallicho.

"We don't really know what will happen until all the cardinals get together. There are a lot of names thrown out,"

Cardinals from Ghana, Canada, Austria and Italy are rumored to be among those likely to be selected.

"The church is growing in the global south. Do you want that face? The sense is do you want to give the papacy back to someone who knows how to hold the reigns of power, someone from Europe," said Gallicho.
