NY man charged with shooting neighbor's 2 dogs

FRENCH CREEK, N.Y. (AP) — State police say they've charged a western New York man with cruelty to animals after he fatally shot a neighbor's dog and wounded another after the animals entered his property.

Troopers say the shooting occurred Saturday afternoon on Dennis Teed's rural property in the Chautauqua County town of French Creek, on the Pennsylvania border in New York state's southwest corner.

Police say the 44-year-old admitted to troopers that he shot the dogs because they were trespassing on his land. Troopers say he told them he stalked and tracked the dogs after he saw them on his property.

He was also charged criminal mischief. He was arraigned in town court and released on bail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
