Man being evicted shot by cops

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a man is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after he was shot by police assisting with his eviction from a downtown Rochester apartment.

Rochester police tell local media outlets that several officers were in the building around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when the man threw bleach at them. Police fired multiple shots at the man, who was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Four officers were treated for minor injuries.

Police haven't released many details about the shooting. More information is expected to be released Wednesday.

The building where the shooting occurred reportedly houses dozens of apartments run by a social services organization that offers transitional aid to formerly homeless people.
