PHOENIX -

After a serious crash on the Loop 202 near 44th Street shut down traffic for hours Sunday night, the victims are being identified.

Sunday night about 8:30 p.m., a Ford SUV traveling in the #1 lane of Loop 202 experienced a tire blowout, pulled over, and stopped in the HOV lane.

The driver, 19-year-old Flor Idalia Yanez-Holguin, got out of the car and tried to direct traffic around the vehicle, DPS says.

A Toyota pickup also traveling west on the 202 struck the stopped Ford SUV at full speed from behind. The pickup then rolled over before landing on its roof.

There were 5 people inside the SUV -- they all had to be extricated.

42-year-old Josefina Holguin-Urquiza, who was seated in the front seat, was pronounced dead at the scene. 19-year-old Silvia Mistica Rivera Holguin was also pronounced dead.

14-year-old Maireli Yanez-Holguin and 12-year-old Yesenia Yanez suffered serious injuries. A toddler of unknown age, Aolanis Luque-Rivera, suffered critical injuries.

Yanez-Holguin, the driver of the SUV, was not injured.

30-year-old Oscar Lopez, the driver of the Toyota, was treated and released from the hospital.

"The key thing to remember if your vehicle is mobile and you can move off the roadway, move off the roadway. A blown tire is not something to block the roadway. Move off. It may sound bad, it may even damage your rim, but it's a lot better than ending up what happened here where people lost their lives," said DPS Sgt. Damon Cecil.

Multiple lanes of the 202 were closed into the early morning hours. The investigation is ongoing.
