DETROIT (WJBK) -- A broken pipe sent water everywhere flooding the basement and soaking the fuse box at Patricia Williams' home on Detroit's west side.

The 65-year-old worked the phones trying to find help.  She's a senior on a fixed income and when the pipe in the crawl space exposed too long to the freezing temperatures burst Wednesday morning, she didn't know what to do.

"Praying for help," Williams said.

However, she didn't know where that help would come from.

"I called the mayor's office and the lady there gave me a bunch of numbers to call," Williams explained.  "I've been on that phone since Wednesday morning."

She called around with no success until a lady gave her this advice.

"She just said, 'Try Fox 2 News,'" said Williams.  "I said, 'Well, maybe if I call them somebody will help.'"

We reached out to the plumbers' union and they answered our call for help.

Bill James Plumbing was on the scene within 20 minutes assessing the situation, the problem and the damage.  They got to work right away.

"This is what we're all about.  We care about each other, the community and we stick by each other and our neighbors," said Wade Kovach from the United Association of Plumbers Local 98.

"Glad to help," said Bill James, Junior.

Williams is so relieved those phone calls and prayers have been answered.

"I am so grateful.  I really am," she said.
