Man continues fight with diamond dealer

ATLANTA -

A local man disputed a credit card charge, and while he got his money refunded he also found himself handcuffed and arrested.

By any account it was a crazy ordeal that Victor Blevons can't seem to get straightened out.

Blevons filed the credit card dispute. He had an engagement ring made and was very unhappy with it. he disputed the charge when the seller refused to take back the ring.  Next thing you know, he's charged with a felony and he has been trying to get rid of since October.

After more than two months, the Fulton County District Attorney's office dismissed the theft by conversion case against Blevons but it's still not over.

Last April, Blevons bought a custom-made ring. With another piece of jewelry as a trade-in, his invoice shows he's paid $2,900. But he didn't like it and his fiancee didn't either.

"It didn't look the quality he thought it was going to be versus what we had spent on the diamond," said Karen Blevons.

The jeweler, Evangelos Armiros, told the I-Team he told Mr. Blevons that he would do a trade-in but not a refund.  Victor Blevons didn't want another ring, he just wanted his money back. So, he disputed the payment with two credit card companies he used to pay for the ring.  He backed it up with documentation from an appraiser that said the diamonds were several grades lower than what he paid for.  Both American Express and Chase sided with the buyer and refunded his money. Yet, the ordeal was not over.

"Four police cars in the neighborhood over a credit card dispute," said Victor Blevons.

He was arrested. After 58 hours behind bars, mug shots now online, a felony charge leveled against him, Victor Blevons fought back to get this case thrown out.

"Unfortunately, three court dates to get to that point," said Blevons.

Blevons still has the ring. He says the seller won't take it back, and court records show he is suing Blevons. So now Blevons has to get another lawyer, take more time off of work and fight a civil suit in small claims court.

"It's just frustrating to go through this whole process," said Blevons

Victor Blevons feels confident that he will win the civil suit, but again it will cost him time and money. Armiros says the two men obviously disagree and he says he is simply trying to get his money back.
