What a way to wake up. Nearly a dozen residents inside the Grand Loft Apartments on the 720 block of W. Grand Blvd opening their eyes to severe flooding.

One resident we spoke with said, 'It's terrible, it looks like a swamp on the second or third floor.' Pipes burst, likely because of the cold, causing the mess.

And if you think that sounds bad, try breathing in the middle of it. Another resident, Carolina Kudlawiec saying, "It smells like mold almost as if there's water sitting for days. When I came home from work last night it was the same smell. There was water on the stairwell and then there was water in the hallway. And then this morning we woke up and there was water pouring. The alarm was going off. There's now an inch or more of water on the floor."

Making matters worse, residents have seen this before. One man says his apartment flooded one year ago and now the water is pouring from the ceiling again.

The Detroit Water and Sewer Department shut the water off and now it's management's turn to mop up what's left behind.
