Summer will be here before you know it, and that means lots of pool time. One valley family is getting something that will add some needed security to their home -- a pool fence.
They watched as a member of the Precious Guardians jumped into a cold swimming pool to simulate how tragic it could be for a child who falls in.
"In the summer in Phoenix it is devastating to hear of parents losing their children to this tragedy, you see it constantly," says Tiffany Jones.
Tiffany Jones jumped at the chance to help Precious Guardians put a pool fence up in the Montoya's backyard.
"I literally felt like I had to do something, I had to do it, I didn't even talk to my husband."
She donated $1,200 after she discovered Dana Montoya couldn't afford to put a pool fence up to protect her children.
"I was overwhelmed, I was starting to cry and I couldn't believe there was someone I've never met that wanted to do that for us," says Montoya.
Montoya has 3 teenagers, but little miss Sophia needs it the most.
"When she started to run around and walk and we realize we couldn't let her out into the backyard because she's very fast and all over the place."
It's a true gift, because the Montoyas just finished fighting to keep their home. Now with a sense of security for her children, Montoya hopes one day to pass that along.
"It's amazing that one mom can do this for another. It's amazing, I hope that someday I'm able to pass it on to another mom."
The group Precious Guardians, with the community's help, installed the pool fence.
