CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
One more thing, about what the White Sox should learn from the Cubs rehab plan for Wrigley Field.
Even with big crowds for games and Wrigleyville's bustling neighborhood of the young, single, love to mingle set, Cubs management knows there needs to be more to-do--and more places for fans to spend money--around the ballpark.
New plans for a permanent Sheffield Street Festival, souvenir shops, an open area for outdoor activities, and a hotel just outside Wrigley Field will attract more people and create additional revenue streams for the cubs.
Isn't this what the White Sox need even more?
And, it would be a lot easier to do it around U.S. Cellular, where there's much more space--basically, nothing but parking lots.
The Sox wouldn't have any landmark issues to get around. The Cubs say they need more fan amenities to help them compete.
Don't the White Sox need them even more?
They've done a pretty good job inside the stadium, but outside--other than adding one new restaurant across the street--there's not enough to do to attract fans early and keep them late.
Soxfest this weekend at the Palmer House. I'll be glad to show up and speak to the fans and management personally if someone invites me.
