From post office to ASU student lounge

PHOENIX -

Arizona State University's downtown campus continues to grow. There are a lot of academic buildings where you can go to class and study.

But there's one place where you can just relax -- and many of you may have been there before.

It's a U.S. Post Office, renovated into a student lounge.

"They come and it's like whoa, it's like shocking, the remodeling of it," says Ana Cisneros.

"Like Tempe has the MU, it's kind of like our MU," says Frank Smith.

"We have a very big commuter population and there's just no place where students can just go," says Marcus.

"Ping pong, air hockey all that good stuff, and I feel like it's a great way for our students to interact," says Smith.

The two story setting has a lounge, televisions, games, snack bar, even a piano.

"It's great, a lot of people just come and sit there and you're wondering where's that coming from," says Cisneros.

Sure, it's a place for fun, but there are also a lot of work space and conference rooms for teachers and students to use. No computers here, but plenty of Wi-Fi to go around.

"We installed plenty of places where students can plug in, we are all wireless nowadays, but we still need to recharge," says Marcus.

"It's nice and quiet, great place to study actually," says Smith.

It's exactly the low key lounge space downtown students were craving.

You'll need your ASU ID card to get in. They're open until 10 p.m. every night of the week.
