Labor attorney weighs in on bus driver strike

Labor attorney Mark Brossman weighed in on the school bus driver strike which entered its third day on Friday with no end in sight.

The union representing 8,000 bus drivers and matrons wants job protection for its worker as the city puts those contracts up for bid.

"What is interesting is that the bus companies have been invisible in this dispute. They have as much to lose as the union if they go out to bid. Once it's bidded out they can lose their contracts just like the workers can lose their jobs.  If the bids go out with the EPP (job protection) all the protections go out by the wayside," said Brossman.

It costs about $700 per child to get them to school.

"This is a long strike. That's the union strategy. Inconvenience, get public opinion. But I think the EPP is gone."
