Posted: Updated:

(WJBK) -- Gabe Saglie, senior editor at TravelZoo, has a breakdown of airline fees to look for in 2013.

Carry-ons
At least, 2 airlines now charge for that coveted overhead bin space
Up to $35 on Allegiant and up to $45 on Spirit (and most expensive at airport)
Space under seat in front of you still free
Most carriers still allow up to 2 items for free

Seat choice
Preferred seat becoming prized real estate: aisle, window, exit row, closer to front of plane
Fees for "better" seats: $10-$199 depending on flight length and airline
US Airways: highest fees for preferred seats
United: $425 a year for Economy Plus seating on all flights
American: $19 per flight for priority boarding

Checked bags
Only one airline does not charge for 2 checked bags (Southwest)
JetBlue allows first bag free but charges $40 for second
Most carriers: $about $25 for first, about $35 for second

Overweight bags
The magic cut-off for domestic flights: 50 pounds
For bags over 50 lbs: $50-$100 fee
For bags over 70 lbs.: $75-$200
Overweight bag fees on international flights: $400+

Flight Change/Cancellation
The good news: new DOT rules now give all passengers a 24-hour grace period
Fees to change/cancel: up to $150
