ATLANTA -
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and other local leaders broke ground on the area's newest charter school on Tuesday.
Drew Charter School Senior Academy will be built at Second Avenue and Alston Drive on the existing school site in the East Lake neighborhood in southeast Atlanta.
The new school will be for students grades nine through 12. Drew currently only serves students up to eighth grade.
Drew was the city of Atlanta's first charter school when it opened in August on 2000.
