911 tapes in Tinley Park attack released, can hear suspect at the end

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The 911 tapes of a call made immediately after a south suburban attack paint a disturbing picture.

Gary Swiercz, retired Chicago Ridge deputy fire chief, is charged with breaking into a neighbor's apartment in Tinley Park, holding a knife her throat and attempting to sexually assault her.

The woman eventually got to a phone to call 911. Play the video above to hear the recording.

Prosecutors said in a bizarre chain of events, she ran to Swiercz's apartment to ask for his help. It's all heard on the tape.

Police said Swiercz's voice can be heard at the end, saying "I just came home. What happened?"

He's currently free on bond, and wearing an electronic monitoring device.
