Ga. man arrested on a child sex trafficking charge
ATLANTA (AP) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has announced state police and Green County Sheriff's officials arrested a 29-year-old Decatur man on a child sex trafficking charge.
Authorities say police stopped Jonthanon Nathaniel Kelly, who was speeding along Interstate 20 in Crawfordville, and saw a 17-year-old girl from Birmingham, Ala. riding in the passenger's seat of his vehicle. Authorities say the unidentified girl told a deputy she was being held against her will for sexual purposes.
Police contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and learned the girl had been bought and sold for sexual purposes in four states since she was 12.
The girl was turned over to the Department of Family and Children's services for medical treatment. It is unclear when Kelly was arrested or if he has a lawyer.
