The crashes – two on the northbound side and two in the southbound lanes – caused major delays during the morning rush.
A highway patrol officer's car was reported to be involved in the first crash on the southbound side shortly after 6 a.m. Only the right lane was initially getting by that scene, near Academy Road. But traffic started moving again there around 6:45 a.m.
Then there was a tie-up on the northbound side Girard Avenue that temporarily blocked all lanes, backing up traffic into South Philly.
Next, it was southbound I-95 approaching Cottman. At least one SUV and a big-rig were involved there.
And crash No. 4 was northbound in I-95's left lane approaching the Blue Route (I-476)
Finally, for those trying to cross into Philly from New Jersey, their commute was snarled by a car that actually rolled over mid-span on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.
