PHILADELPHIA -

A Philadelphia police officer was arrested Tuesday for an altercation with his wife that occurred while he was off-duty, the police department said.

Officer James Timms was arrested in connection to a physical altercation with his wife that happened last week.

Police say he faces Aggravated Assault and other charges.

Timms was suspended for 30 days with intent to dismiss by Commissioner Charles Ramsey, police said.
