A chorus of boos greeted Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter Tuesday during the opening of the city's new $6.7 million firehouse.
As he walked into the new energy efficient firehouse for a ribbon cutting ceremony, the boos from dozens of protesters from the union representing local firefighters could be heard.
Union members say they are upset at the mayor over a long running dispute for a new contract.
The city says the new firehouse is one of the only "green" stations in the city.
Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers says the station also offers additional rooms for community programming.
Once again we need to bundle up and watch for icy patches on roads and sidewalks.
The cold stays with us for a few more days. Today's high is in the upper 20s; tomorrow, high around freezing.
Looks like another storm system moving in to start the weekend. This one will likely bring a mix of snow, sleet, and rain. Stay tuned.
