Authorities in Hall County say a wrong-way driver is dead and four others injured following a wreck early on Tuesday morning.
The Georgia State Patrol says the accident involving four vehicles happened on Interstate 985 near Jesse Jewel Parkway at around 6:40 a.m.
They say 80-year-old Raymond Sanford Reed, driving a Buick LeSabre, entered the interstate from Exit 24. He was traveling south and entered the northbound lanes when he collided head-on with a Ford F-150 driven by 54-year-old Cresencio Martinez-Trejo. Trejo's Ford F-150 was then struck from behind by a Honda Civic driven by 32-year-old Keisha Wheeler.
Investigators say a tractor-trailer truck trying to avoid the crash sideswiped Reed's LeSabre.
Troopers say Reed was killed in the accident. Trejo and Wheeler, along with two children in the Honda, were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where they were treated and released. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
