Police in Fulton County and Atlanta are investigating a series of smash and grabs on Friday.
In Fulton County, three businesses fell victim to burglars in a strip mall on Campbellton Road. Police say thieves used rocks to break through the front glass doors to get inside a Subway, Emily Nails and Carriage Dry Cleaners. It is not known if anything was taken from the stores.
In Atlanta, police are investigating a smash and grab robbery on Huff Road. They say the suspects took a cash register from the Bone Lick BBQ restaurant. An ATM inside the restaurant was also damaged. Investigators say the cash register was later found at the Maynard Terrace exit ramp off Interstate 20.
Police in Atlanta are also investigating a smash and grab at an Athlete's Foot store on Headland Drive. Investigators say surveillance video shows a gray Chevrolet Trailblazer backing into the front door to gain entry. At least 10 to 15 people tried to break into a back room of the store where the safe and shoes were kept, but were unsuccessful.
Investigators say they ended up taking clothing from the shelves, and also made off with $600.
According to police, a burgundy Pontiac and a white SUV were also involved in the burglary.
Police are trying to determine if one group is responsible for the crimes. There have been no arrests in connection with the incidents.
All of the businesses that were burglarized were open on Friday.
