Detectives in El Mirage uncover chop shop

El Mirage Police officers stumbled upon a chop shop while working another investigation Thursday morning.

About 9:30 a.m., detectives responded to the 13500 block of N. Poppy Street to look into a theft of utilities claim. While on the property, detectives learned that parts from a stolen vehicle were inside of the garage in the back yard.

Detectives obtained a search warrant, and were able to recover parts from two separate stolen vehicles.

One was stolen out of Peoria and the other was stolen from Glendale.

There was evidence both vehicles had been dismantled and a chop shop was being operated out of the residence.

Detectives are now trying to identify and arrest suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
