8 Sam's Club employees busted in theft ring

Police in New York say they have busted eight Sam's Club employees in an organized theft ring.

It happened at the company's store in Middletown.

The New York State Police say the employees, who were working on the overnight shift, stole more than $30,000 in merchandise over a two-month period.

The stolen merchandise included electronics, clothing, food and beer.  The arrests came Friday after an investigation that included Sam's Club Asset Protection Department.

The employees facing charges include Luis Reyes, 43, Edward Becker, 40, Joseph E. Gust, 34, Nusha Gjokaj, 25, Jordan Thompson, 20, Matthew C. Mann, 18, Jay Prange, 57, and Jeraldo Mendoza, 25.

Reyes and Becker were arraigned in Town of Wallkill Court, and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail.  Gust was turned over to the City of Middletown Police after it was learned he was wanted on a warrant for menacing.  The remaining suspects were released and due back in court on January 15, 2013.
