PHOENIX -
Police say an 86-year-old woman died after she was hit by a pickup truck near Thomas and 36th Street on Friday morning.
The woman was walking with a walker, allegedly while the light was red, when she was struck by a pickup. Officers say they believe the driver of the pickup had the green light.
She was taken to a hospital where she died.
The victim was identified as 86-year-old Vera M. Dodd. She recently celebrated a birthday, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area while police investigated.
