Cops: NY man arrested in 4-year burglary spree

Posted: Updated:

HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they've arrested an ex-convict who's suspected of burglarizing more than 100 homes in a three-county area of eastern New York during the past four years.

Police in Hudson Falls in Washington County tell The Post-Star that 39-year-old John Suddard of Fort Edward was arrested Friday and charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property. He's being held in the Albany County Jail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.

Officials say they've recovered nearly two dozen duffel bags full of jewelry they believe Suddard stole during a burglary spree in Washington, Warren and Saratoga counties dating back to 2008. He was released in prison in late 2007 after serving time for the last of his three convictions for burglary and attempted burglary.
