Ex-Georgia Tech football player arrested

ATLANTA -

A former Georgia Tech football player is facing serious charges. FOX 5 has learned police arrested former Tech defensive lineman Denzel McCoy for felony credit card theft and misdemeanor theft by taking.

Officers say McCoy is suspected of stealing a woman's purse last week inside a bar in Buckhead.

McCoy was a highly touted recruit who received a football scholarship, but he never player for Tech because of a medical condition.

McCoy is still enrolled at Georgia Tech, but he is not a member of the football team or program.
