Arizona Science Center hosts 'Snow Week'

Posted: Updated:

Kids don't have to go to Flagstaff to have a white winter, they can play in 20 tons of snow that's been dumped in downtown Phoenix.

The Arizona Science Center is hosting "Snow Week," with a week full of winter activities usually reserved for people in the high country.

Kids can participate in ice carving, snowball target practice, ugly sweater day and more. In addition to the frosty fun, the center's staff will perform exciting and educational demonstrations like showing how a block of dry ice lights up when magnesium and an oxidizing agent are ignited.

They'll also be able to put their hands into a real indoor cloud.

Snow Week runs from Wednesday until Jan. 1.

Activities:
12/26: Ice carving; Pajama day, with discounts for those in PJs
12/27: Snowball target practice and gingerbread house building
12/28: Winter wonderland LEGO build
12/29: Ten additional tons of snow delivered, snowman building competition, fruitcake catapulting
12/30: Ugly sweater day, with discounts for those in ugly sweaters
12/31: Train LEGO build
