What should you do with your old iPhone?

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Some of you may have asked for the iPhone 5 to be under the Christmas tree and you got it. So, do you get rid of your old phone? You can sell your old iPhone, but there might be a few reasons to hang on to it.

Some people sell their old iPhone because the old one is still worth money. For many who keep their old phones, you can still get a lot of use out of it. Smart phones are a lot of things: phones, mini computers, and cameras, so you may want to wait before you shelve it.

Here are some uses for your old phone: You can give it to your kid who has been bugging you for an iPhone, or give it to your mother. If you don't give it to her, she might never get one. With an old iPhone, you can download movies so that your children have something to do on long trips.

Your old iPhone can also function as an alarm clock or the bedroom stereo. You could give it to charity and if you do, make sure you clear it of all personal information.

Lastly, you can keep your old phone as a back-up in case you lose that brand new iPhone you got for Christmas.
