Christmas Day shoppers take full advantage of great deals

Christmas Day shopping is not a typical activity.

But neither was shopping on Thanksgiving, until Black Friday became Grey Thursday this year.

Shopping on Dec. 25 was definitely limited, but where stores were open, folks took full advantage.

There was a boot-buying frenzy at Sundance Shoes, one of the shops on The Boardwalk in West Bloomfield.

"Our customers look forward to it every year," said Rob Wolk, the owner of Sundance.

And this is no flash-in-the-pan idea for Wolk. He said this is the 15th year Sundance has been on Christmas Day.

But West Bloomfield wasn't the only place open for business Tuesday.

The deals were also plentiful at Spectacles in downtown Detroit. Everything was half-off, which attracted a good number of unexpecting shoppers.

Fox 2's Ronnie Dahl traveled from West Bloomfield to downtown Detroit, on a mission to see what goodies were available for hardcore shoppers on Christmas Day.

A mother is pained beyond words.  Her three-year-old daughter was killed in a crash Sunday on Detroit's west side less than a block from her house.  The chaotic scene was visible from her front door.
