Disabled veteran puts up Christmas lights

ROMULUS, Mich. (WJBK) -

We love to hear from viewers about the best light displays across Metro Detroit. This one, really captures the spirit of Christmas. It was designed and arranged by a disabled veteran. It's on Essex just off Wick Rd. near Wayne Rd., not far from Detroit Metro Airport in Romulus. The display is bright and colorful and the way it was built is equally impressive.

Dan Taylor is a disabled vet. He served on the USS Enterprise in the Navy. Dan lost a leg to diabetes, but still laid out an entire light show and his neighbors and onlookers love it! Dan somehow got up and down his ladder and managed to string the lights. He has the only display on his block. He did it with some help from his nieces and young sons. The lights also serve as comfort for the family. Dan lost his wife and his niece lost her husband. The Christmas season is special to this close knit family.
