A woman and her two children are safe after being held at gunpoint at a home near 69th Avenue and McKinley. The woman's husband, who allegedly threatened them, was arrested.
Police say the woman and her two children were held hostage in their home on Wednesday morning. The situation was domestic violence related.
Eventually the woman and her children were let go, but the man remained barricaded inside the home.
Police negotiators were called in and after a couple of hours, the husband surrendered and was arrested.
According to reports from police scanners, the man was armed and forced his wife to call the children's school and tell them they were sick. She was told if she called police he would kill everyone. Officers evacuated neighbors in the area as a precaution.
