The girl was burned with hot water on Sunday night and for three days she suffered -- until her father called 911.
Terrell Williams is accused of abusing his 3-year-old daughter. Police say William's girlfriend, Kenyatta Gill, dipped the 3-year-old in scalding hot water after she wet her pants. Both Gill and Williams waited days before calling for help.
"I don't care what child it is, it's our job to take care of them," said Rebecca Macias, a concerned neighbor.
It happened in an apartment near 19th Avenue and Larkspur.
Police say at first, Gill lied about what happened, saying she had left the little girl alone in the tub and the girl turned on the hot water herself. Later, police say Gill confessed to placing the 3-year-old in hot water -- telling police she was in a rush -- and she didn't check to make sure the water wasn't too hot.
No one answered the door at the couple's apartment. Their roommate, Aaron Alston was also arrested.
Police say he knew the 3-year-old had been burned, but he didn't call 911. He also told police it wasn't his responsibility because she's not his daughter.
"I don't feel that's right. I feel every child is... Everybody..every adult is responsible to watch all other children, even if it's not your own children," said Macias.
The little girl remains hospitalized with second degree burns.
