3 ways Sky Harbor is making holiday travel easier

PHOENIX -

Sky Harbor airport has three ways to make holiday travel easier.

Travelers who fly Southwest Airlines or U.S. Airways and park in the East Economy lot can check their bags before they park and board the airport shuttle to the terminal.

The service is free, although airline bag fees still apply. The 44th Street and Washington PHX Sky Train station will offer the same service when it opens in early 2013.

Those planning to park in the airport terminals can get a coupon for 40 percent off the terminal garage rate Dec. 19 through Jan. 7.

By downloading the coupon from skyharbor.com or showing it on your mobile device, travelers park for $15 per day instead of $25. The coupon isn't valid for Terminal 2 Economy spaces.

The TSA still encourages travelers not to wrap gifts they put in carry on luggage.

As an incentive, Sky Harbor offers free gift wrapping behind security in Terminal 4. The service is free, but any donations will go to United Way.
