President Obama won re-election, but Mitt Romney won the state of Arizona.

Monday, Arizona's 11 Electoral College members officially recorded their votes for the former Massachusetts governor and while doing so, called into question the president's birth certificate.

The members of the Electoral College were allowed to make brief statements while officially casting their votes, and a few of them called into questions the legitimacy of the president's birth certificate.

"I hope our congress will formerly investigate the issue that have been brought to our attention and even investigated by our own Sheriff Joe Arpaio," said Paul Gilbert, Electoral College member.

The president's birth certificate was certified by officials in Hawaii -- but that's not enough for Arizona Republican Party head Tom Morrissey.

"I am signing this document with concerns about the legitimacy of the birth certificate that I have seen presented by Barack Hussein Obama."

After the ceremony, which was led by Arizona Secretary Of State Ken Bennett and featured Governor Brewer, Morrissey defended his comments.

"It doesn't satisfy me. In my opinion it doesn't satisfy me that it is legitimate. A document that looks real that would satisfy me," said Morrisey.

Governor Brewer was asked about the comments too.

"The bottom line is everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I just, I happen to disagree," said Brewer.

When asked if the men coordinated their comments about the president's birth certificate, the head of state Republican Party said no.

Arizona's Democratic Party responded to the comments surrounding the president's birth certificate.

Their statement reads: "Considering the Newtown tragedy, it is ridiculous and embarrassing the three Arizona republican electors would dare to bring up the issue of the president's birth certificate."
