PHILADELPHIA -

Philadelphia police are investigating an officer involved shooting in West Philadelphia that happened just before 5 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police tell FOX 29 a 27-year-old woman died after she charged at police with a knife.

The shooting happened along 5600 block of Cherry Street.

According to investigators, police arrived at the scene to find the woman holding a knife and trying to stab her mother. When police instructed her to drop the knife, officers report she charged at them.
