MCSO investigates case of injured dog left in dumpster

YOUNGTOWN, Ariz. -

An animal abuse case is underway after a 2-year-old Shih-Tzu was found injured and abandoned in a dumpster at a convenience store.

The small black and white dog was found Saturday afternoon about noon in the dumpster at the QuikTrip in Youngtown, Ariz., at 11604 W Olive.

The dog was still alive when it was found. It was rushed to a veterinarian, but due to the severity of its injuries, the dog died.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who has information on this animal's owner or anyone else involved in its abuse to call the Animal Cruelty hotline at 602-876-1681.
