It takes something special to get the keys to the city, and the Rays' David Price certainly was something special this season --- He wrapped up the year winning the Cy Young Award, which goes to the best pitcher in the league.
Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn introduced Price and his dog 'Astro' at Tuesday's ceremony downtown. Rays fans circled the podium as Buckhorn read a proclamation making it David Price Day.
Not only did Price get a key to the city wrapped in a blue ribbon, but Astro got his own key as well, which generated chuckles from the crowd.
Price even brought up Astro to the microphone to say a few words, but he was apparently overcome by the moment and rendered speechless. But Price said he still had a big thank-you for the honor.
"It was very cool," he said afterwards. "To be a part of the city of Tampa and to have everybody come out and support me here today, that was a great feeling."
