Speed cameras return in Scottsdale

Posted: Updated:

You might want to start paying closer attention to your car's speedometer.

Just when you thought photo radar cameras were being phased out on valley streets, some new ones are going up.

The city of Scottsdale is cracking down on red light runners and speeders and the cameras will be added to several highly traveled roads.

The cameras will snap pictures of drivers traveling 11 miles per hour over the speed limit, but in school zones, the cameras will be triggered at 6 mph over the limit.

Areas where cameras are being added:

  • Southbound Scottsdale and McDowell
  • Eastbound Hayden and Thomas
  • Eastbound Greenway-Hayden Loop and Frank Lloyd Wright
  • Eastbound Loop 101 and Frank Lloyd Wright
  • Eastbound 68th Street and Thomas
  • Southbound Thompson Peak Parkway and Bell Road
