A free dental clinic at the Arizona State Fair grounds is expecting to give care to 2,000 patients on Friday and Saturday.
The Central Arizona Dental Society brought over 1,000 dental professionals together for its first Mission of Mercy event.
The area floor was transformed into a giant clinic with more than 100 portable dental units and 1,500 volunteer dentists, hygienists, lab technicians and assistants.
About $1 million in free care is expected to be given to 2,000 patients who are unable to receive it otherwise. Some people even started lining up for the event on Thursday night.
The clinic will mostly give fillings, extractions and cleanings to children and adults. The clinic operates on a first-come, first serve basis so organizers say to get there early.
