Atlanta police located a child and his caretaker who had been missing for more than a week.
Authorities say that Laquanda Burley left her 23-month-old son, Malachi, with a woman she knew only as "Sylvia" at the Edgewood/Candler Park MARTA station on Nov. 26.
According to the police report, Burley told investigators that she was overwhelmed and thought the time apart would be beneficial.
The family started worrying when they couldn't get in touch with Sylvia. Malachi, family members say, has seizures and needs medication.
Police eventually identified the woman as 26-year-old Sylvia Franklin and asked for the public's help in locating the pair.
Finally, authorities reported that the boy was located around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Authorities did not provide any details as to where the toddler was located.
The boy's mother was questioned by police and released. She then went to check on her son at the hospital, where he was being checked as a precaution.
"I'm going to hug him tight until I can't hug him no more and kiss him," Burley told FOX 5's Kaitlyn Pratt.
The incident remains under investigation. It is not known if any charges will be filed.
