Cops: Thieves followed UPS deliveries

Police on Long Island say they have busted a duo that was following a UPS truck and then stealing the packages the driver left at doors.

Albert Munoz and Freddy Benavides, Jr. were arrested in Bay Shore on Tuesday.

Suffolk County Police say an off-duty New York state trooper spotted them  stealing a package from a doorstep. The trooper called Suffolk County Police.  An officer arrested them as they pulled into a Post Office onFifth Ave. in Bay Shore.

Police say the pair were following a UPS truck around the Bay Shore area and stole the packages after they were left on the doorsteps.

The two had an Apple EarPod, Apple iPad Mini case, and two pairs of Skechers sneakers on them when they were arrested.

Munoz, 21, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and marijuana.

Benavides, 20, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property.

Munoz will be arraigned Wednesday in Central Islip. Benavides will be arraigned at a later date.
