DOUGLAS, Ariz. (AP) - Federal authorities say a California man has been arrested in southern Arizona after 66 pounds of liquid methamphetamine allegedly was found in his car's gasoline tank.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say 41-year-old Vasa Major applied for entry at the Arizona border in Douglas.
They say the Campbell, Calif., resident was directed to a secondary inspection area where officers noticed his gas tank appeared to have been modified.
A CBP narcotics detection dog confirmed the presence of drugs. After officers removed the fuel tank, they reported finding nine containers of liquid meth.
They say the nearly 8½ gallons of liquid meth has a street value of more than $1 million.
Major was turned over to federal immigration officials. CBP officials didn't immediately know Tuesday if Major had a lawyer.
