Police in Newton County are investigating the deaths of a husband and wife whose bodies were found inside their Covington home on Monday.
Authorities say 44-year-old Robert Dendy and 39-year-old Lendene Dendy were discovered by the couple's teenage son around 7:45 a.m. at their home on Stone Ridge Way.
FOX 5's Justin Gray reports that they were both teachers. Lendende Dendy was a third grade teacher at Live Oak in Covington.
"Just a wonderful teacher if your child had an opportunity to be under her care and just share the love," said Gina Cox, who taught alongside Lendene.
Robert Dendy had been a football coach and teacher for several years in DeKalb County and most recently taught at a Conyers middle school.
"It was just a shock -- a loss. He was a great guy; she was a great woman. They'll surely be missed," said Josh Seymour, who taught with Robert Dendy.
Police have not said how the couple died. The GBI conducted autopsies on the husband and wife on Tuesday, but said it won't release the findings until later this week.
Seymour said that the couple was well-known for throwing barbeques and inviting friends and family over. He said they had just had one on Friday and showed no signs of problems at that point.
Grief counselors will be on hand Tuesday for teachers and students at Live Oak Elementary School.
