Alan Gross was arrested and accused of being a spy in December of 2009. Supporters say he was distributing cell phones and laptops to the Jewish Community to try to connect them to the internet. He had made 5 trips to Cuba, working for Bethesda-based Development Alternatives, Inc. His wife says he has cancer and has lost 100 pounds.
Judy Gross has filed a federal lawsuit against DAI and the US government, alleging they did not advise, train and protect her husband. She's asking for $60 million compensation. She and other supporters are asking the Obama administration to send a high-level envoy to Havana to negotiate her husband's release.
