We caught up with an Arizona couple who won the Powerball nearly 2 decades ago.
Shirley and Don Pence won $102 million back in 1995.
They lived in Phoenix at the time, and bought the winning ticket at the 7-11 near 24th Avenue and Greenway.
Since winning, the couple has split their time between Florida and Arizona. While they say winning was a blessing, it wasn't always smooth sailing.
"A lot of people were wanting money. We had one situation where they threatened to kidnap our grandson and our dog. I mean it was like okay people, give me a break this is ridiculous," says Shirley Pence.
The Pences chose an annuity over a cash lump sum and will receive payments until 2015.
Past winners and financial planners have some advice just in case you do strike it rich. Stick to a budget, invest wisely, learn to say no, and be prepared to lose friends.
