3 College Students Design App That Silences Ringing In Class

Posted: Updated:
ORLANDO, FL -

Three college students in Orlando may have the answer to a 21st Century problem: How do you automatically set your cell phone to silent while you're in class or a meeting?

Jonathan Wachob, Brandon Carpenter and Tom Johnson all say they got tired of the ringing, so they came up with a solution: A smart phone app that allows them to take their phone at the beginning of the semester, set it and forget it.

Their friend, Ed Jesizek, is a software engineer major and together they created the app they call "Ringtone Manager."

"By putting our schedule into the phone ahead of time for a whole semester, at the start of class it automatically goes on silent and at the end of class it automatically goes on loud," Brandon Carpenter, a Seminole State student said.

The three also think the app has a place in settings outside of college.

"You could set it during a business meeting and you could have it go back to loud afterwards," Jesizek said.

For now though, it's a $1 investment for college students who want to avoid a grade killing mistake.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
